The Concept
Envisioned as a community centre and event space, Lohana Community center offers an urban space for celebration and culture. The hub caters to both large gatherings as well as everyday social life, for rituals and collective growth. On a macro level, the project seeks to become a unifying space; standing as a symbol of Vadodara’s cultural identity.
Key Design Features
Greeted by a banyan tree, the entry into the site begins with a culturally rooted arrival. A welcoming entrance atrium offers a gallery, showcasing the history and contributions of the Lohana Samaj, along with a prayer space, reception, and lounge areas. At its core, a circular atrium with sunken seating and a central water body, acts as a climate responsive and gathering space; followed by various community functions such as meeting rooms and conference spaces.
The design incorporates efficient infrastructure, including stilt level parking that doubles up as an event space, basement stackable parking, and well-planned catering kitchens and storage areas.
Upper levels accommodate flexible event spaces, including a grand hall with movable partitions for multiple events hosting, a double-height grand ballroom, ritual rooms, and pre-function spaces. The project also offers dedicated hospitality spaces, including grand bride and groom suites, guest rooms, and a terrace offering open and semi-open areas for gatherings.
